Report + Support

Report and Support is an online tool developed by an organisation called Culture Shift, it is a platform for staff, students and others to report bullying, harassment, discrimination, and other behaviour that falls short of what we expect from students and staff at the University of Bradford. Reports can be made anonymously or with contact details. The Report and Support platform also provides information about internal and external support, policies, and procedures. 

How does Report and Support fit in with existing reporting routes? 

Report and Support does not wholly replace current reporting channels but provides an additional route for reporting. However, one of the key benefits of using Report and Support is to create a central record of reports so that the university can better understand what is happening within our university community. We would therefore encourage any unacceptable behaviour to be reported via Report and Support, so that we can build a comprehensive picture of what is happening. 

Anonymous Reporting 

This is when no names or other information that could be used to identify the individual making the report are provided. Normally, no further action will be taken or an investigation into an incident started unless we can contact the person making the report. However, in extremely rare circumstances, if the report contains information that can identify the person making the report or against which the report is being made, and the report raises serious concerns about an identifiable individual’s safety or welfare, or it raises significant safeguarding concerns. then we may begin an investigation or contact the identifiable person to offer support.

With contact details 

Where names and contact details of the individual making the report are included. Named reports can include third-party information, such as names or other information which could be used to identify another individual.  

If you provide your name, it will enable us to contact you to find out how we can support you and/or whether you would like to take your report further.  

Please note that where you make a report through the Report and Support tool, we will not normally take steps such as investigating the complaint, initiating disciplinary or other formal proceedings (including litigation) or passing information on to third parties to take the report further unless: (a) you have made a named report; and (b) you agree to this action. The exception to this is if your report raises serious concerns about an identifiable individual’s safety or welfare, or it raises significant safeguarding concerns.

Any information provided in a report will be treated as ‘special category data’ under the General Data Protection Regulation. This means we will treat the information highly sensitively and it will remain confidential to only the members of staff that need to be aware of the information submitted.  

The purpose of the information collection is: 

  • To enable staff, students, and visitors to report cases of bullying, harassment, sexual misconduct more easily. 
  • To enable staff, students, and visitors to seek support more easily.   
  • To collect statistical information which will be used to monitor incidents.

Is there a time limit on the reports I can submit through Report and Support? 

We would always recommend that you report an incident at the earliest opportunity, when you feel best placed to do so. There is no time limit on reporting, but generally the more time that has elapsed since an incident took place, the more limited we are likely to be in the action we can take.
